One kilometer from Handras, on the plateau that stretches out to Ziros and that is known for wine-growing, lies the medieval village of Voila. Its romantic ruins with many Venetian elements are dominated by the church of Agios Georgios of the 15th century, and a tower of the Turkish period. An inscription on its doorway dates it to 1153, corresponding to 1742 in the Christian calendar. According to a census of 1583 the village had a population of 301 souls, but today Voila is a deserted ghost-town.
